BLACKSTONE Hotel ~ Illinois Central RR ~ Syracuse

$35.00

This pretty airbrushed scroll pattern was used by Blackstone Hotel, 636 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The hotel opened in 1910 and was named after Timothy Blackstone, president of Illinois Central Railroad. The hotel was built mainly to serve the railroad's passengers. After a checkered history, the hotel is currently called The Blackstone.

The stencil airbrushed design is in shades of pink on white. The saucer, which measures just over 4 1/2 inches, was made by Syracuse China circa 1940-1959. The datecode is smudged so I can't be any more accurate than that. The cup stands 2 1/2 inches tall and is not backstamped. Both pieces are in excellent condition, showing very little use.

Excellent piece of Chicago history so don't miss out.
