This great plate was used to advertise the Peter Terris line of dishes produced by Shenango China. It was more than likely displayed on a shelf in a department store's china section.
The plate is a big one, measuring 12 inches in diameter. Great graphics in black of a housewife doing housewifey things, like putting the plates in the dishwasher, getting them out of the oven, etc. Peter Terris is in turquoise across the middle of the plate. Quite striking!
Shenango China manufactured this heavy plate in 1956. Great backstamp on it. There are a few scrapes on it but no chips or cracks. Wonderful mid-century advertising item.
Any collector of Peter Terris would be delighted with this plate. Nice to hang on the retro kitchen wall of your mid-century house!
