NEW YORK MILITARY ACADEMY Serving Bowl ~ Early Shenango

$25.00

This large serving bowl was made for New York Military Academy located in Cornwall on Hudson, NY. The school was founded in 1889 by Charles Jefferson Wright, a Civil War veteran. It was one of the best known military schools for young men, according to its website. In 1975, it became coed.

The bowl features the shield of the school with a banner below reading New York Military Academy in maroon with a matching band surrounding the well and footed base. Shenango China manufactured this large bowl circa 1920s-1950s, according to the backstamp.

It measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter and stands 3 1/2 inches tall. It is HEAVY, weighing 3 pounds before packing. No chips, cracks or hairlines but it does have age spotting around the rim and much wear in the well. It's been used but not abused.

Serving pieces are hard to come by so don't miss this one, especially if you're a graduate of the school. Great gift too!
