Here's a wonderful piece of china from Deering Ice Cream Shops. This company produced excellent ice cream out of its factory in Portland, Maine and served it in shops around the northeast.
Made by Walker China between 1953-1969, the 11 1/4 by 7 3/4 inch platter features the distinctive Deering logo in maroon with matching maroon band around the rim. The platter is in excellent condition, with just a few scuffs in the well. It's just the right size (for some of us!) for pie a la mode or a slice of chocolate cake with a big old scoop of vanilla ice cream.
