Walker SAMPLE Plate ~ Horse & Rider ~ 1973

$30.00

Walker China manufactured this sample plate in 1973. It features an image of a horse and rider blowing a horn with the date 1783 next to it in a mustard olive color with matching stripe around the verge on a white body.

The plate may have been a sample for Fraunces Tavern which commemorated Washington’s Triumphal Entry into New York, November 25, 1783 but I have no proof of that.

The plate measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter. The Walker backstamp is shown as well as the handwritten sample information under the glaze. It's in near mint condition, showing just a few tiny scratches.

Nice piece for the Walker China collector.

Thanks for looking!
