Stone & Thomas Dept. Store Plate - Sterling China

This dinner plate is from Stone & Thomas Department Store, which was located in Wheeling, WV. This chain was founded in 1847 by Elijah J. Stone and Jacob C. Thomas. Stores were also located in KY, VA and OH and grew to 19 stores. Stone & Thomas sold out to Elder-Beerman in 1999.

The plate features the script S&T in maroon on a green verge. A matching maroon stripe encircles the well of the plate. Sterling China manufactured this 10 inch dinner plate in 1967. No chips, cracks or hairlines. Moderate to heavy utensil use.

Great piece of West Virginia history.
