This is an oval baker from Schweizer's Restaurant in Detroit. The restaurant, known for potato pancakes and sauerbraten, was located near East Jefferson and Chrysler Freeway. Once known as the oldest restaurant in Detroit from its beginnings in 1862, this institution closed circa 1980.

Mayer China manufactured this oval baker in 1962. It features Schweizer's in cobalt blue with a matching band around the rim. The bowl measures 5 3/8 by 4 inches and is in pristine unused condition. Perfect piece of memorabilia for any Detroit native.
