US STEEL Divided Dinner Plate ~ New Pattern!

$95.00

This divided dinner plate is a newly found US Steel pattern. An example of it, with the addition of Steamer Alleghany, the name of one of their ships, was found in Michigan's St. Clair River. The Alleghany, a stern wheeler, operated from 1927 through the 1940s. The pattern was more than likely used by other ships in the US Steel Great Lakes fleet as well as towboats and tugboats on various rivers.

The pattern consists of intertwined letters USSC in dark gray with matching gray accent lines. Union Supply Co., the distributor, was a subsidiary of US Steel in Pittsburgh. The manufacturer was Mayer China.

The grill plate measures 9 3/8 inches in diameter.  Condition is very good, with light utensil and stacking marks.  No chips, cracks or hairlines!

Fabulous piece of US Steel history!
