PRINCESS MARTHA Plate ~ 1920s Scammell

$50.00

This striking plate was made for the Princess Martha Hotel in St. Petersburg, Fl. It was built circa 1925 and originally called Mason Hotel. It was recently turned into apartments for seniors.

The plate features a shield with M inside and St. Petersburg, Fla. underneath with hanging bellflowers on either side. The rim pattern is orange flowers, green leaves and blue accents. The Scammell Lamberton backstamp dates to 1928-1930, so it was made close to the opening of the hotel. The 9 inch plate has no chips, cracks or hairlines but there is moderate to heavy utensil use in the well. Still, a great piece of early boomtime Florida history. Hard pattern to come by so don't miss it!
