WINTHROP ARMS Dinner Plate ~ Massachusetts ~ Scammell

$40.00

This dinner plate was made for Winthrop Arms, which was located in Winthrop, Massachusetts. The hotel opened in 1916 and was one of the North Shore's largest hotels., conveniently located from Boston via the Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad.

Further information can be found here:

WINTHROP ARMS

The 9 2/4 inch plate features a circular blue shield with an image of the building on the water, in shades of blue, green and tan. Banners on either side read Winthrop Arms.

Although not marked, it was manufactured by Scammell China. Mitchell Woodbury, Boston, Mass. was the distributor. I believe it dates from the 1920s. The pattern is similar to the one used by the US Senate, also made by Scammell.

No chips, cracks or hairlines. Moderate utensil use.

Excellent piece of Massachusetts history.
