JIFFY DRIVE-IN Plate ~ TN Chain

$20.00

This plate is from Jiffy Drive-In, a chain which started in Knoxville, TN.  Clarence Weaver founded Jiffy in 1954 with the first drive-in located on Central Avenue.  It was initially a soft serve ice cream stand but Weaver had worked at Chattanooga's Krystal and decided this was the direction to go in.  Franchises were eventually sold, mostly across the Southeast, but by 1971 all were gone.

The plate features the well-known image of a drive-in along with their slogan "Good Food in a Jiffy" in green at the top of the plate.  Matching green stripes encircle the rim.  Corning manufactured this 5 1/2 inch plate on their  white milk glass Pyrex body with their backstamp used circa 1960-1980s.  Excellent condition!
