This flip top bowl is unusual in that it has a bronze/brass lid with what appears to be a copper hinge.
Made of ironstone, it features a wide maroon band around the ivory body. Marked on the bottom is J.M.&S. Co. with a shield. While I haven't tracked down the manufacturer, it appears English.
The base stands just about 4 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches in diameter. It shows all-over crazing, as is common with ironstone. Some chipping on the base and a hairline inside, which I've shown. It's been used over the years. The lid shows some wear and discoloration but the hinge is tight.
This bowl would make a great addition to any collection.
