PINE HOLLOW Country Club Demi Cup ~ 1954 Shenango

This demitasse cup features the shield of Pine Hollow Country Club. This club opened in 1955 in East Norwich on Long Island. Originally the club house was a private residence owned by Consuelo Vanderbilt and built in 1934. It was fully air-conditioned, quite a luxury at that time, and had a swimming pool and tennis courts. When the club opened, it had a waiting list within a year.

Shenango China manufactured this demi cup in 1953. On the side of the cup is the shield of the club in green. This same shield can still be seen on the club's web site.

The cup stands just under 2 1/2 inches tall. Perfect in every way showing little use.
