Hotel STACY-TRENT, Trenton, NJ ~ Maddock Pottery

$125.00

This gorgeous service plate was used at Hotel Stacy-Trent in Trenton, NJ. The hotel opened in 1921 at 49 W. State Street. It had a rooftop garden overlooking Stacy Park and the Delaware River and was quite luxurious, offering a ballroom, barber shop, drugstore and cigar shop. The menu and wine list were quite extensive. The hotel closed in 1965 and was demolished in 1968.

Maddock Pottery of Trenton manufactured this lovely plate circa 1911-1924, so it could have been from the first order of china.

The 10 3/4 inch plate features an ornate pattern of swags, flowers and basketweave in shades of pink, blue and coin gold. Two shields acent the well of the plate, one for Stacy and one for Trent, Mahlon Stacy and William Trent, two founders of Trenton.

The service plate is in excellent condition, with some slight wear to the coin gold. No chips, cracks or hairlines and just a few light scratches.

A terrific piece of Trenton history.
