HARRY AITKEN Fruit Plates ~ Syracuse China 1941
$2.00
Here are two fruit plates designed by
H.G. Aitken
, a long time
Syracuse China
artist, best known for his Nature Study series.
Each 7 1/4 inch plate has a different center design as well as a different color band around the rim. The grape plate features a maroon and gold band while the blueberry plate has a brown and gold band. The blueberry plate has a crow's foot front and back which can be seen in the photo but the grape plate has no chips or cracks. Moderate wear on both.
The Old Ivory backstamp was used by OPCO from 1927-1950s and appears on both plates. The blueberry plate has an additional datecode of 1941. The weight of the plates is between the heavier restaurant ware and the lighter household ware.
